CardGrader / Privacy policy

Privacy policy

Your photos stay on your iPhone. Understand what is stored locally and what online services process.

Effective October 26, 2026

CardGrader processes and stores your cards on your device. We do not run a card-upload service or require an account. The free app uses Google AdMob advertisements, and offers an optional one-time purchase to remove advertisements.

Photos and scans

Photos you take or import, corrected images, measurements, inspections, and notes are stored only on your device and are never uploaded by CardGrader. They may be included in your device backups (for example iCloud Backup), depending on your device settings. Deleting the app deletes this data from the device.

Camera and photo library

The camera is used only when you choose to take a photo. Imported photos are chosen with Apple's photo picker, so CardGrader can only see the photos you select.

Card lookup (optional)

When card lookup is on, CardGrader reads the card's name and number on your device and sends only that text, or the text you type in search, to the free TCGdex catalog (tcgdex.net) to get card details and market prices. CardGrader does not attach your photos, advertising identifier, collection, or inspection data to those requests. Like other internet services, TCGdex and its image hosting services receive connection information such as your IP address when your device connects. TCGdex's own privacy practices apply to those requests. You can turn lookup off in Settings.

Advertisements and privacy choices

Google AdMob may receive your IP address (which can indicate approximate location), device/app information, diagnostic and performance data, and ad interaction data to deliver, measure, and protect advertisements. CardGrader does not send your photos, collection, measurements, inspection marks, or card lookup text to AdMob. We request non-personalized ads, disable Google's publisher first-party ID, and do not request access to Apple's advertising identifier. Advertising still involves network data processing. Where required, Google's consent form asks for your privacy choices before ad requests; you can revisit applicable choices in Settings. Google's privacy policy applies: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Lifetime Remove Ads purchase

Apple processes optional purchases using your Apple Account. CardGrader verifies your entitlement through StoreKit and stores local advertising frequency information. We do not receive your payment card details. Use Restore Purchases in Settings to restore an eligible purchase. Verified ad-free access disables both banner and interstitial ad requests.

Children

CardGrader is intended for general-audience collectors and is not a child-directed service. Advertising providers process data as described above. Contact us if you believe a child's personal information has been collected improperly.

This website

This website does not run advertising or analytics scripts and does not require an account. Its hosting provider receives standard connection information, such as your IP address, to deliver pages and protect the service. This is separate from advertisements shown inside the iPhone app.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will appear in the app with a new effective date.
